Otte Ottesen was born 1976 in Næstved, Denmark.
As a boy he sang in the school choir and took piano lessons privately. The idea that he might become a musician came at an early age. Classical music, church music as well as the Danish Songs from “Højskolesangbogen” had a great influence on the boy as well as on the people of importance to him in his childhood. He tried his luck with the organ during his teenage years, studying with Jens E. Christensen at Our Saviors Church in Copenhagen, but high school put an end to that. In stead he became an enthusiastic choir singer during those years.
After finishing high school he began to study law at the University of Copenhagen and has since obtained a Masters Degree in Law.
During this period of time he started taking singing lessons with Danish tenor Villy Rosengren, who after a couple of years suggested to him, that he might try for a professional ensemble or the academy of music. The latter was his choice, and in 2005 he started studying the art of classical singing at The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, where he studied under the supervision of associate professor Hanna Hjort.
After graduating he continued his studies privately with Susanna Eken and Tonny Landy.
He has taken part in master classes with the great English tenor Philip Langridge and the highly acclaimed pianists Malcolm Martineau and Martin Isepp.
In 2007 he had his professional debut as soloist in Haydn’s Nelson-Messe with the Faroe Islands Symphony Orchestra in a TV-Transmitted Concert in the Faroe Islands.
On stage he has since taken part in a number of opera-productions, undertaking minor roles as Yamadori in Mdm Butterfly and Ruiz in Il Trovatore alongside his work in the choir.
From 2012-2014 he held a position in the choir of the Danish National Opera, and he appears regularly in the Royal Opera Choir in Copenhagen. Opera Hedeland has also benefited from his talents.
He has a great love for the Musik of J.S.Bach and works both as chorister and soloist in this repertoire.
Lately he has also taken on the role of the evangelist. He has been a frequent quest in the ensembles “Den Jyske Sinfonietta” and “Enghave Barok” as well as appearing with the National Danish Radio Vocal Ensemble.
In addition he has appeared as soloist in a number of oratorios and other church music from the classical and romantic eras.
